_New AI-ready_ infrastructure _gives legal technology companies, developers and AI assistants direct access to TCLP’s climate contracting expertise, enabling richer legal research, drafting and workflow automation._

**London, UK. 14 July 2026:** [The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP)](https://chancerylaneproject.org/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/page/homepage.md), the UK-based legal nonprofit driving climate action through contracts, has launched a new AI-ready solution that makes its climate legal knowledge directly accessible to legal technology platforms, AI assistants and software developers.

Through a new [Application Programming Interface (API) and accompanying Model Context Protocol (MCP),](https://mcp.chancerylaneproject.org/) developers can integrate TCLP’s structured knowledge graph into AI-powered legal research, drafting and workflow tools, while AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can access the same knowledge through a standardised connector.

Rather than exposing individual contract clauses in isolation, the platform enables AI systems to search, explore and interrogate the relationships between clauses, legal concepts, implementation guidance, definitions and climate topics. This allows legal applications to retrieve not just drafting language but also the legal, commercial and climate context surrounding it, helping lawyers produce more informed, transparent and reliable work.

As generative AI becomes embedded across the legal profession, access to structured, trustworthy legal knowledge is becoming increasingly important. TCLP’s new infrastructure ensures that climate-aligned legal expertise can be accessed wherever lawyers increasingly work: inside the AI-powered tools and platforms they use every day.

For example, a search for “deforestation” returns an interconnected collection of resources, including TCLP’s Deforestation and Land Use Change Clause and Questionnaire, practical implementation guidance, relevant glossary definitions such as Carbon Sequestration, and related concepts including carbon sinks, ecological restoration, embodied carbon and offsetting. By combining semantic search with the relationships captured within TCLP’s knowledge graph, the platform helps users understand not only individual clauses but the wider legal and commercial context in which they operate. Alongside the API, TCLP has launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, enabling AI assistants and agentic legal tools to interact directly with its legal knowledge. While developers can integrate the API into their own applications, the MCP provides a standard way for AI systems to search and navigate the knowledge graph, compare clauses, benchmark drafting and identify opportunities to strengthen climate provisions or reduce greenwashing risk. It is designed to augment lawyers, accelerating early-stage research and drafting while leaving legal judgement, negotiation and strategic advice firmly in human hands.

The launch forms part of [TCLP Labs](https://labs.chancerylaneproject.org/), the organisation’s growing programme of experimental tools and “provocatypes” exploring how artificial intelligence, structured legal knowledge and digital infrastructure can accelerate climate-aligned contracting. It builds on the recent launch of Markdown for Agents, TCLP’s open-source WordPress plugin, now deployed across more than 70 websites, which helps AI systems retrieve high-quality web content more effectively.

The work has been supported by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation as part of TCLP’s programme to expand its digital infrastructure and ensure climate-aligned legal knowledge remains accessible as AI becomes an increasingly important interface for professional work.

Rather than replacing lawyers, we’re giving them better tools to find, understand and apply climate-aligned legal solutions more efficiently.”

As AI becomes embedded within legal workflows, structured legal knowledge will play an increasingly important role in producing reliable, explainable and professionally accountable legal outputs.
