Updated: [Mary’s Clause] JCT Energy Efficiency and Environmental Obligations

[Mary’s Clause] JCT Energy Efficiency and Environmental Obligations requires a construction contractor to meet specific energy efficiency requirements on practical completion of new and refurbished buildings.

In this update we have:

  • Made minor amendments to clauses 1.1, 2.2 and 3.1, and the definitions.
  • Improved the ‘Why use this?’ and ‘Impact: How this clause promotes a net zero future’ sections of the user notes.
  • Populated the user notes with opportunities, potential challenges to using the clause and counter-arguments to overcome these.
  • Added more information regarding the ‘Responsibility for design and/ or build works’ in the user notes.
