Employment arrangements
- Start date: ASAP.
- Salary: £50,000- £55,000 p.a. depending on experience.
- This is a full time permanent role.
- Remote working, UK-based.
- 25 days holiday p.a. plus public holidays.

About the role
- The Editorial Manager will play a central role in the success of TCLP: identifying, developing and maintaining a wide range of the highest quality legal content that practically and effectively delivers climate impact.
- This role will report to the Programme Manager.
Job description
Responsibilities include:
Strategic thinking and delivering TCLP’s strategic aims
- Horizon-gazing to understand the opportunities for adapting legal documents to deliver the greatest impact on decarbonisation.
- Understanding trends shaping the legal market and markets of our target sector audiences.
- Understanding how our content (and 2023-2025 strategy) needs to adapt to align with emerging climate science and revised climate trajectories.
Editorial and publishing
- Responsible for all editorial and publishing activities relating to TCLP legal content (meaning guides, clauses, glossary terms, tools and other materials published on TCLP’s websites or elsewhere).
- Ensuring that TCLP content:
- Is technically accurate and of an exceptionally high calibre,
- Is usable in practice and user-centred in its design, and
- Prioritises opportunities for decarbonisation with the greatest potential for impact and transformative change.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Developing new content and maintaining existing content,
- Reconfiguring existing content to support emerging user needs, as well as
- New user interfaces and journeys that increase end use of the clauses.
- Supporting TCLP with delivering its strategic aims by developing, maintaining and constantly improving our editorial and publishing systems and approaches so that they:
- are user-centred,
- maximise opportunities for leveraging the time and expertise of subject matter experts in our community, and
- minimise admin, bureaucracy and touch points for TCLP.
Teamwork
- Ensuring the quality and technical accuracy of content generated by other TCLP teams including our communications team to ensure brand integrity and authority.
- Supervising the development of legal content across TCLP teams to ensure a joined up approach to how we create, maintain and adapt our legal content.
Project management
- Coordinating and project managing TCLP’s legal content editorial and publishing activities.
People management
- Relationship building and managing a large network of third party stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Managing a small team.

You will be a self-starter who is passionate about sustainability and making a difference in the climate crisis.

- Experience in contract law and in writing legal contracts.
- Commercial transactions experience, including negotiating contract terms.
- Strong editorial skills (specifically: writing, proofreading and copy editing and research).

- Prioritisation.
- Strong project management skills (specifically: organisation, communication, strategic thinking and leadership).
The candidate will have the following desirable attributes:
- An understanding of web publication processes.
- Fluency across a wide range of digital programmes and platforms, in particular Google workspace.
